4 Generations of Trucking & Excavating

A family business since 1945, Marvin Louis Greis started the dirt business with a backhoe and a dumptruck. He hauled rock and dug basements in the growing town of Boonville. In addition, Marvin manned a trucking business, hauling for the town bakery, other local businesses, and materials for surrounding highway projects. Marvin Lee, the only son, came into the business at the age of 13. He would spend his time after school digging basements, and at 18, he came to manage the local dirt projects. In 1965 Marvin Lee and his wife, Patricia, bought the business and expanded.

Currently in its fourth generation, Marvin Lee; sons, Mark and Clark; daughter, Denise; and Grandson, Jacob still do business the old fashioned way – with a handshake and hard work. With dump trucks, backhoes, dozers, and trackhoes, they can complete your required project in good order. Pond digging and cleaning, land clearing, commercial excavation projects, state roadway projects, and structural demolition are just a few projects that they specialize in.

In 1979 Marvin Lee developed the largest residential subdivision in Boonville. With 144 lots, it remains the largest in town, and one of the premiere locations to reside in the historic river town of Boonville. During the Great Flood of ’93, Greis Trucking and Excavting was called upon to help repair the damaged railways that border the Missouri River. Since that time Greis has been named an approved “Maintenance of Way” contractor for railroad improvement. One of the “best in the business” with their attention to detail and quick response in Mid – Missouri railroad maintenance is now the primary business for Greis Employees. Taking advantage of the railroad opportunity has proven to be a great driver of growth, as leveraging even more skilled team members and improved equipment has only made us more effective with local jobs.

We’ve completed many projects for the railroad across the country. Highlights include replacing a Kansas/Missouri train bridge in less than 12 hours, setting new electronic switches in Arkansas, Illinois, Iowa, Louisiana, Oklahoma and Texas, in just a few hours, and replacing ties and ballast with local maintenance crews in Missouri.

We look forward to seeing how we can be of service to you!
